Alors

Terms

Nothing here is for sale, nothing here is immigration advice, and every score it shows you is an estimate. The rest is detail.

Alors is run by an independent developer, not a company. These terms cover the site at alorsapp.com as it exists today: a free score converter, some explanatory writing, a waitlist, and — if you sign in — a piece of your French writing corrected by hand. Using the site means accepting them.

What Alors is right now

WhatCostStatus
Score converter — turns a TEF or TCF writing score into an NCLC band Free Working. Runs entirely in your browser
Waitlist — tells you once when something significant changes Free Working
The writing coach — the actual product Free Early, and done by hand. Signed in, you can have one piece of writing corrected at a time, when there is room in the queue. Nothing is for sale on this site

There is no payment of any kind. If that changes, it will come with its own terms, and anyone on the waitlist will be told before a single thing is charged.

The score converter is an estimate

The converter does arithmetic on published band thresholds. It does not mark your writing, and it cannot know what an examiner would give you.

Those thresholds come from a published table, the band you are given does not. Every band floor on this site is taken from the published conversion table used for Canadian immigration. What remains an estimate is the score our grading produces before that conversion is applied — good enough to aim with and not good enough to plan around. The only score that counts is the one on your official result from the exam body.

Writing you send for correction

It stays yours. Sending it here transfers nothing. You keep every right in what you wrote, and you give permission for one thing only: to store it, read it, and correct it. It is not published, not shown to other users, not sold, and not used to advertise anything.

A person reads it. Not a machine grading away while nobody looks — the developer who runs this site opens your writing and reads all of it, and part of correcting it by hand is putting your text through an AI assistant. The privacy policy sets out exactly what goes where. Read it before you send anything: it is the page that answers "who sees this".

What comes back is educational feedback on French writing. A band estimate, a score for each thing marked, and specific fixes to make. It is one reader's opinion, produced against criteria this site has not yet checked against human-marked exams. It is not a mark, it is not an official result, no exam board has seen it, and it is not immigration advice — it says nothing about your eligibility for anything.

Send only writing that is yours to send, and only exam practice. Don't put anything in it you would not want a person to read: no passwords, no ID or file numbers, no other people's personal details. A submission that is abusive, illegal, or plainly not exam writing may be refused or removed.

Corrections are free while they exist, only a few can be in the queue at once, and like everything else here they can stop without notice. Nothing about them is for sale.

This is not immigration advice

Alors teaches French, corrects French writing, and converts exam scores. It does not advise on immigration, assess anyone's eligibility, or recommend a programme.

In Canada, only lawyers in good standing, Quebec notaries, and consultants licensed by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants may give immigration advice for a fee. Alors is none of those. For advice about your own case, speak to one of them, or read IRCC directly.

Not affiliated with the exam boards

TEF Canada is a trademark of CCIP Paris Île-de-France. TCF is administered by France Éducation International. NCLC and Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens are the Government of Canada's language standards.

Alors is independent of all of them and is not associated with, approved by, or endorsed by any of them. Those names appear here only to describe which exam a score came from and what a band means — never as part of this product's name or branding.

No promises about your results

Nothing on this site guarantees a band, a score, a number of CRS points, or any immigration outcome. Language exams are marked by people, results vary, and the only authority on your result is the organisation that marked it. That covers a band a correction puts on your writing as much as a number the converter shows you: it is a study estimate, not a prediction of what an examiner will give you.

The waitlist

What is stored and for how long is set out in the privacy policy.

Using the site fairly

Read it, use the converter, join the waitlist. Please don't attack the site, hammer it with automated traffic, sign other people up, or try to break into parts of it that aren't public. The text and design are the work of their author; quoting and linking are welcome, wholesale copying is not.

It may break, change, or disappear

This is a pre-launch site run by one person. There is no uptime guarantee, no support commitment, and no promise that any feature survives to launch — including the converter. The band thresholds will change when official tables replace the interpolated ones, and the numbers you see today may not be the numbers you see next month.

If something goes wrong

The site is provided as it is, and it is free. To the extent the law allows, the developer isn't liable for losses that follow from using it — in particular for any decision you make about an exam, a fee, or an application on the strength of an estimate this site produced.

That limit is not unlimited. Nothing here removes rights you have under consumer-protection law where you live, and nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

If you think something here has harmed or misled you, email first — a real person reads it and would rather fix the site than argue.

Age

This site is aimed at adults preparing for an immigration language exam. If you are under 13, please don't use it or join the waitlist.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If a dispute has to go to court, the courts of Ontario are the ones chosen here.

This does not take away protections you have at home. If the consumer law where you live gives you rights that cannot be signed away — and in many places it does — you keep them, and you can still bring a claim where the law says you may. Choosing Ontario sets a default; it does not move your rights somewhere less convenient for you.

If you are in Ontario, the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 applies to you regardless of anything on this page, because that Act says so itself. There is deliberately no arbitration clause here and no waiver of class proceedings: Ontario voids both against consumers, and including them would mean writing something unenforceable in the hope you did not know that.

Changes to these terms

If what the site does changes, this page changes with it and the date below moves. If a change is significant and you are on the waitlist, you will be told before it takes effect.
